A Cup of Hygge

For this blend Cup & Saucer uses : Cammomile flowers, Fennel seeds, Lavendar buds, Rose petals, Cornflower petals, Star anaise.

Upon opening the tea pouch younaren instantly hit with the aroma of the star anaise and Fennel. This combined brings an almost liquorice smell. It’s not overly possibly to smell any of the other ingredients at this stage.

Let’s Get Brewing!

The aroma whilst brewing is fairly similar to that of its dry state however the camomile is also starting to come through too.

The brewed liquid is that of a mustard yellow colour.

Let’s Get Sipping!

First sip and I am intrigued.

This tea is very much a two sip flavour combination for me.

On the initial part of the sip the floral side of the blend which really allows the camomile to shine through bringing a lightness to it.

The second part of the sip is the liquorice taste you can smell. The Fennel and the star anaise work together to give this taste. It does add an uplifting warmingness which fits with hygge approach. Although it may be a bit too much for my taste preference.

Having said that the properties this blend makes you feel and tastr within it’s Ingredient combination does help add to the hyggeness an almost out with the old in with new.

Happy Sipping 🙂

ZO Tea – Balance

Time for Tea Please?

Like in anything finding a “Balance” is key. Thanks to ZO Tea and their blend “Balance” I’m hoping to do just that!

ZO Tea

(Direct from website)

Our mission is to help you find a healthy balance, so make it your ritual and enjoy a better sense of wellbeing with our range of organic tea blends.

ZO is a UK-based, independent company that specialises in premium, organic loose leaf tea.

Expertly blended to showcase the natural beauty and benefits of the ingredients. Our aim is to promote organic tea rituals, with carefully designed blends to help support and encourage wellness.

After many years suffering with digestive problems, I eventually found relief through a variety of different tea blends, added benefits included clearer skin, more energy and a greater sense of wellbeing.

I was inspired to research and develop my own brand of tea after reading negative reviews and articles about some of the ingredients I was drinking and the potentially harmful ingredient

Senna. My goal became to offer blends that promote general wellbeing.

Balance

For this blend ZO Tea uses Rooibos, nettle, Rosehip, green tea China Jasmine, ginger, Fennel, Pu Erh Tea China, mate green, cinnamon sticks, cocoa peels, pink pepper, strawberry,  rose petals and cardamon.

Upon opening the pouch you are instantly hit with with the aroma of the Pu Erh with a light ginger kick.

Let’s Get Brewing!

The aroma whilst brewing is completely different to that of it dry state. The smell is now a lot fruitier and spicier as well.

The brewed liquid is that of a burnt orange colouring.

Let’s Get Sipping!

First sip and I am hooked.

Considering how this blend smells in its dry state to that of its brewing and then tastes amazes me.

I wouldnt say that there is a specific flavour that is more obvious than the other. They some how all work together side by side or I guess in “Balance”.

It’s light and fruity in its initial flavour with the strawberry, rose petals, rosehip and jasmine green tea.

The mid section of the sip is more earthy with the Pu Erh, nettle, fennel, and mate.

The aftertaste is that of spiced aspects with the pepper, and cardamom and ginger.

All three aspects of the sip work in “balance” to ensure a well edged sip with the flavours working together not just for taste but also the senses.

It’s a naturally sweet blend so to me doesn’t need any additions and allow the natural flavours to sing.

Happy Sipping 🙂

(Direct from web site)

Key Ingredients and Their Benefits:

  • Cassia Seed: A natural laxative that aids digestion and promotes weight loss.
  • Moringa: A powerhouse of essential nutrients, Moringa is rich in antioxidants, helps lower blood sugar and cholesterol, and boasts anti-inflammatory properties.
  • Lotus Leaf: Known for its metabolism-boosting properties, it aids in weight loss and provides a calming effect.
  • Orange Peel: Packed with vitamin C, it boosts immunity and adds a refreshing citrus flavour.
  • Oolong Tea: Enhances mental alertness, aids in weight loss, and strengthens the immune system.
  • Dried Hawthorn: Improves digestion, reduces anxiety, and helps in lowering blood pressure.

Upon opening the tea pouch you are hit with an earthy undertone. None of the flavours are really identifiable at this stage.

Let’s Get Brewing!

The aroma whilst brewing is completely different to that of its dry state. It’s intense and not earthy the green tea is most noticeable within its aroma.

The brewed liquid is that of a mustard yellow colouring.

Let’s Get Sipping!

First sip and it doesn’t taste like I expected it to at all.

Now I say this based on the aroma of the blend.

The aroma was that of the green tea and taste wise it isn’t the dominant flavour. Mixed with the moringa they both do both bring a light grass like flavour. Yet it’s more aromatic than what you may expect.

I wouldn’t say that of the flavours individually taste wise more than another. It’s only really on the aftertaste that the green tea is apparent to me.

The oolong brings a smokey earthiness with a light nutty undertone.

There’s a slight tang to each sip that adds a new dimension to wach sip, through the use of the hawthorn.

The blend is also naturally sweet too for easy sipping.

Happy Sipping 🙂

Mojo Melo – Stomach Soothe

Time for Tea Please?

I’m not sure about you but I have definitely over indulged the Easter Weekend and do I feel guilty no I don’t and neither should you! However thanks to Mojo Melo and their Stomach Soothe I’m certainly helping to counter act that.

Mojo Melo

(Direct from website)

Our mission is to use the power of herbal teas to improve gut health and help people suffering from debilitating chronic conditions such as stomach inflammation, gastritis, and acid reflux.

However, it was the ancient wisdom from Chinese and Indian cultures that provided the significant breakthrough I was seeking.

These cultures understand the importance of gut health for overall well-being and have long been using herbal remedies to optimise it. Inspired, I decided to give various commercially available stomach-health teas a try.

This led me on a mission to develop my own herbal teas, blending together high-quality, effective ingredients to support gut health and reduce inflammation. Michaela

Stomach Soothe

For this blend Mojo Melo uses Organic Chamomile flower, Organic Green tea leaf 25%, Organic Basil (Tulsi Vana – Holy Basil)  20%, Organic Lemongrass herb.

The aroma when opening the tea box is primarily that of the chamomile with a light undertone of the lemongrass.

Let’s Get Brewing!

The aroma whilst brewing isn’t too dissimilar to that of its dry state, the chamomile is the strongest aroma.

The brewed liquid is that of a yellowy green.

Let’s Get Sipping!

Upon first sip the main taste of the blend as the aroma suggests is the Chamomile. The delicate floralness of the blend really stands out.

Now I don’t think I’ve ever drank a tea before that uses basil however this is the second main taste and I just love it. It adds a real contrast to the floral side and is just delicious and works perfectly. Plus I’m a basil fan anyways.

The lemongrass is almost an aftertaste within the sip but it’s uplifting and refreshing and adds a further contrast to each sip.

I can’t taste the green tea within the blend which doesn’t bother me at all as green tea is my marmite you either love it or hate it. Yet knowing it is there adds to the wellness within the blend a the properties this tea can bring to you.

Happy Sipping 🙂

Hibiscus and Cinnamon

For this blend Tea & Twigs uses: Hibiscus and Cinnamon.

Upon opening the tea tin, you are hit with the spicy sweet cinnamon followed by a fruity under tone.

Let’s Get Brewing!

The aroma whilst brewing is the opposite to its dry state where the fruity flavours are stronger than that of the cinnamon.

The brewed liquid is that of a deep pinky red.

Let’s Get Sipping!

First sip and I am hooked.

Hibiscus is the prominent taste within this blend. It brings a rich fruity floral flavour. Hibiscus is one of those distinctive flavours, which is fruity yet floral but also holds its own.

The cinnamon brings not just a flavour undertone but also a depth aspect. This is down to the warming properties it brings, an added comfort almost to each sip.

Together, the cinnamon and hibiscus work in harmony with each other, which adds to the “wellness” side of the blend.

Just the perfect sweetness.

There’s just something quite comforting and wholesome about sipping on a cinnamon spiced blend. It just appeals to the senses and your mods.

It’s also one of those blends that you know are just going to work perfect hot or cold. Or with a a spritzy twist as Mocktail.

Upon opening the tea pouch you are instantly hit with the peppermint aroma. This is the primary scent with a slightly down to earth undertone of the turmeric and ginkgo leaves.

Let’s Get Brewing!

The aroma whilst brewing isn’t too dissimilar to that of its dry state. Peppermint is the primary flavour but there is now a light floral hint.

The brewed liquid is that of a yellowy green.

Let’s Get Sipping!

First sip and I am hooked. I love a mint tea and the use of the peppermint just adds a further detail to refresh your body and mind. The peppermint is less harsh compared to other mints but packs the flavour.

The use of the peppermint is the most prominent flavour as well as the smell. The use of the turmeric is reflected in the blends colouring but also adding an earthy undertone and light after taste.

The use of the orange and the pumpkin bring an added lightness and almost fruityness to each sip which lightly cuts through the peppermint. Adding a new depth to each sip yet quiets doing so.

This blend is really refreshing and is a kick to all the senses. Waking up your mind an almost distraction a kick to the senses that keep you not just “focused” but grounded too.

Akan- Moringa Leaf Tea-

Time for Tea Please?

Thanks to Akan for sending me their herbal blends collection to share with you. A tea with added benefits is always a win by me!

Akan

(Direct from website)

Our journey with Moringa has been very interesting. Back in 2011 Richard’s sister, who is a nutritionist told us about this amazing ‘miracle’ tree called Moringa. This tree packed with nutrients and it’s multitude of health benefits simply sounded too good to be true! With so many health benefits how was it that we had never heard of it?

We realised that we can build a business combining and promoting Richards passion for Permaculture and bringing the awareness of this wonderful Superfood called Moringa to South Africa and the World.

We get to support the local South African farmers and communities that we work with while making a living and support our family, while educating people about the benefits of Moringa and changing lives as consumers benefit from optimum health at a fair price. It’s a win-win-win situation.

Moringa, Cape Buchu & Hibiscus Tea

For this blend Akan uses: Dried Moringa leaf, Buchu, Hibiscus & Spearmint.

Upon opening the tea envelope with a floral minty aroma.

Let’s Get Sipping!

The aroma whilst brewing isn’t too dissimilar to that of its dry state. However, the hibiscus is coming through as the biggest scent.

The brewed liquid is that of a redy brown colouring.

Let’s Get Brewing!

First sip, and I am very intrigued. I don’t really know what I was expecting the flavour to be, as I’ve never had a yea with moringa in before.

The first part of the sip is primarily that of the fruit floral side of the hibiscus. Which brings a much needed sweet note to each sip.

The almost aftertaste of the tea sip is that of the peppermint, which adds refreshing lift to each sip.

There’s a part of the sip where I can’t really tell what the flavour it self is but it’s kinda earthy and almost oily so process of elimination it’s a mixture of the the moringa and buchu. Which adds an extra taste sensation to the Sipping experience.

The flavour combination surprisingly work and for me would be the perfect afternoon evening blend.

Happy Sipping 🙂

ZO Tea – Radiance

Time for Tea Please?

Thanks to ZO Tea for sending me a sample of their blends. One thing sure is there packaging certainly catches your eye! Loving the colour combos.

Radiance

For this blend, ZO Tea uses Green Tea China Sencha , Raspberry, chia seeds, white tea, and Lemongrass

Upon opening the tea pouch you are instantly hit with the fruit sweetness of the the Berry flavours with a floral undertone. At the moment the green tea side of the blend is fairly undetected.

Let’s Get Brewing!

The aroma whilst brewing is fairly mild but its now the turn of the green tea tro take centre stage.

The brewed liquid is that of a yellowy green colour.

Let’s Get Sipping!

First sip and I am hooked it’s just light refreshing sip.

I’m always hit and miss when it comes to enjoying a green tea blend but this one is just perfectly balanced. The mix of the sencha green tea and the white tea are the perfect proportion for the blends to work in harmony with each other. Adding a floral goodness which is quite delicate. With a light raspberry tone coming through mixed with the tea flavours.

As the brew goes down the lemongrass within the blend is more of an after taste to each sip an extra refreshing kick.

I’m also getting an almost peppery sort of flavour which could be from the earthyness of the chia seeds but this just adds an extra flavour dimension to the blend.

There’s something quite nice drinking a tea that you know will help not just your body to cleanse but revitalise you skin too working on not just your insides but your outsides too and that’s enough sometimes.

Happy Sipping 🙂

Goodnight

For this blend Cuppa and Co uses: Moroccan mint, peppermint leaves, liquorice root, silver linden blossoms, wild strawberry leaves, marigold blossoms, rose hips, red rose petals, & chamomile blossoms.

Upon opening the tea pouch, you are instantly hit with the spearmint aroma primarily with an underlying mintness from the morrocan as well as the marigold blossoms.

Let’s get Brewing!

The aroma whilst brewing isn’t too dissimilar to that of its dry state. The mint aroma is very much the main aroma with a light hint of liquorice root.

The brewed liquid is that of a yellowy green colouring

Let’s get Sipping 🙂

First sip and I am hooked.

I love a tea blend that is aimed towards winding down getting ready for bed a moment of calm and this brew hitting those boxes.

The mint aspects of the blend is the main taste you get. This provided a much needed refreshing aspect. Mints down for its tummy tonic tendancys with its a lightness and flavour soothes you each sip.

I have a love-hate relationship with liquorice in tea blends. However, within this blend, balance is just right . You can taste it and feel in just the right amount if doesn’t over power each sip.

The floral ingredients are very subtle with each sip but add a light sweetness that lifts the blend to the next level and all work to bring that moment of added calm especially the chamomile.

I can certainly see this blend being part of bed time routine ensuring me a “goodnight”.

Happy Sipping 🙂

Harmony Leaf Tea – Rooibos Relax

Time for Tea Please?

Thanks to Harmony Leaf Tea for sending me their blend Relax to try and share with you from Portugal. Which is a new tea country for me as well!

Harmony Leaf Tea

This small company was created by me, Ângela, a portuguese woman in her 30s who lives in a village called Vila das Aves (village of birds).

With the habit of drinking tea with my mother, I developed a love for trying new teas and learning about their benefits. That’s why I decided to create this brand from home and finally start doing something that I’m really passionate about.
I hope you enjoy and explore the different flavors that will make you fall in love for this wonderful drink full of benefits.

To find out more or to try for yourself then hit the link: https://www.etsy.com/shop/harmonyleaftea/?etsrc=sdt&fbclid=PAAaZLKf4IMmjADwc3o5dknBqx82isHh7KCMG1xgN058ZEfQXGVhEW9Br2SIs_aem_AUA7ZHFVizYz4k7ylfdLQKGajN-ZZQNJrl9i5j1rMFP6qCL4haH3dnYYJNVc984EmjI

Relax

For this blend Harmony Leaf Tea uses: Rooibos, orange blossom, valerian, apple, salt, lavender, mallow, blue cornflower, saflower, aroma.

Upon opening the tea pouch you are hit with a real cocktail of flavours it’s sweet and fruity with a hint of menthol even. It’s giving me envisions of sweets almost. The aroma wasn’t what I was expecting but that’s not a bad thing as I’m excited to try.

Let’s get Brewing!

The aroma whilst brewing whilst brewing isn’t too dissimilar to that of its dry state. A mix of sweet fruity and menthol but the Rooibos is starting to come through now as well.

The brewed liquid is that of a dark browny red.

Let’s get Sipping!

First sip and I am hooked. Considering how this blend smells while brewing it doesn’t taste anything like it.

The blend itself is primarily a mix of the orange and apple bringing the main flavours however it is so perfectly balanced that the use of the floral ingredients brings an uplifting edge to it.

Using the lavender is almost like a cleanser and the after taste.

One thing about this tea is that although it’s a Rooibos you can’t overly taste it while drinking the blend. The menthol side of the tea I could smell whilst brewing isn’t present in the sipping experience. However I am getting a slight flavour hit of like a medicinal sweet / cough sweet, think cherry drop even.

One things for sure is that this blend does it exactly like its name sake and I’m certainly starting to feel relaxed.

Happy Sipping 🙂
