Hibiscus and Cinnamon

For this blend Tea & Twigs uses: Hibiscus and Cinnamon.

Upon opening the tea tin, you are hit with the spicy sweet cinnamon followed by a fruity under tone.

Let’s Get Brewing!

The aroma whilst brewing is the opposite to its dry state where the fruity flavours are stronger than that of the cinnamon.

The brewed liquid is that of a deep pinky red.

Let’s Get Sipping!

First sip and I am hooked.

Hibiscus is the prominent taste within this blend. It brings a rich fruity floral flavour. Hibiscus is one of those distinctive flavours, which is fruity yet floral but also holds its own.

The cinnamon brings not just a flavour undertone but also a depth aspect. This is down to the warming properties it brings, an added comfort almost to each sip.

Together, the cinnamon and hibiscus work in harmony with each other, which adds to the “wellness” side of the blend.

Just the perfect sweetness.

There’s just something quite comforting and wholesome about sipping on a cinnamon spiced blend. It just appeals to the senses and your mods.

It’s also one of those blends that you know are just going to work perfect hot or cold. Or with a a spritzy twist as Mocktail.

Happy Sipping 🙂

Teaspoon Tea Company – Spiced Apple

Time for Tea Please?

With winter and Christmas just around the corner it’s time to try a festive brew or two … Today thanks the Teaspoon Tea Company I’m able to share with you their Spiced Apple blend.

Teaspoon Tea Company

Hello, we’re Lance and Pamela and we own of teaspoon tea company based in the lovely county of Lincolnshire.

We started teaspoon in February 2014, serving and selling only loose leaf tea in the market town of Grantham. Our aim was to bring loose leaf tea to the forefront instead of coffee. We, of course, served the most amazing espresso coffee too but the tea took centre stage with big tea caddies holding the tea, tea timers and infuser teapots. Everybody loved it and we extended our range from 30 teas to 50!

Loose leaf tea is better for the environment than teabags and this is really important to us.

Spiced Apple

For this blend Teaspoon Tea Company uses: Hibiscus, orange peel, rosehip, cinnamon, ginger, clovers.

Upon opening the tea pouch you are instantly hit with the spicy notes of the cinnamon mixed with that of the orange. It almost smells like a rich fruit cake.

Let’s get Brewing!

The aroma whilst brewing isn’t too dissimilar to that of its dry state however the floral berryness of the rose hip and hibiscus is taking centre stage with the fruity spicyness kicking in too. Here’s hoping it tastes as good as it smells!!!!

The brewed liquid is of a deep burgundy. It just looks tealicious.

Let’s get Sipping!

First sip and I am hooked.

It really does taste as good as it smells.

The main flavours on initial taste is that of the orange and hibiscus. Bringing not just a citrusy twist but a rich deep berry flavour with floral tones.

The spiced aspects of the cinnamon, ginger and cloves add an extra dimensions. Not just for their warming qualities but they add a spice earthiness which offer a complete different taste sensation.

Together all the ingredients work perfectly, each having their own turn to shine while providing their overall flavour of the blend.

It’s also one those blends that is lovely hot but you know will work just as well cold too.

This blend is just perfect for the festive season. It really is giving me mulled wine vibes. That or the blend could easily be used to infuse wine or cider for the perfect winter drinks.

Happy Sipping 🙂

Black Dog Teas – Honeydew Melon

Time for Tea Please?

When a surprisingly local tea company to me got in contact with me about trying some of their tea it was never any doubt that I would love too! I’m all for shopping local and trying new independent tea companies so today I’m introducing you to Black Dog Teas .

img_7031
Black Dog Teas are “passionate about our products, and dedicated to giving you the very best, with a focus on quality and environmental awareness. Starting with around forty teas we want our customers to discover new tastes and blends with us. In an effort to reduce our impact on the environment we have ensured that all of our packaging is biodegradable or recyclable. With the belief that small changes can make a big difference, we have stripped away as much as we can. We don’t use labels for our branding, instead your teas will be packed to order and hand stamped”.

That’s one thing that sets Black Dog Teasapart from other tea companies. Their packaging is simple but very effective, with its unique hand stamping and use of recycled packaging it makes a unique impact. Here’s hoping the tea packs the same punch!

Today I’m trying Honeydew Melon. For this tea Black Dog Teas blends: hibiscus, honeydew melon cubes (honeydew melon, sugar), grapes, pineapple flakes, papaya flakes, mango flakes, flavouring.

img_7035
As soon as you open the tea pouch you are engulfed in melonness. It’s super sweet and fruity in its dry aroma and theres even crystallised melon pieces, Yes I did just eat a piece and it was delicious. There’s even deed grapes and papaya flakes maybe I’ll save those for brewing rather than eating hehe.

Let’s get brewing !

The aroma while brewing is is completely different to its dried aroma. While the tea brews the melonness that attacked you mellows out. It allows the hibiscus to come through, Mingled with all the other fruity notes.

img_7037

Plus the brewed liquid is a sensational colour, it’s deep and redy pink almost wine like in its colour.

img_7038

I am so surprised in how sweet the tea actually is. Especially with all its natural flavourings. If you need a sweet fruity pick me up this tea will certainly hit the spot.

The melonness is so surprising. It’s flavour is just spot on. It just shouts melon. I know their are melon pieces in but it really does taste like liquid melon! The use of the hibiscus just enriches that flavour. At times it has the prominent flavour but it works along side the melon. The use of the dried fruits just adds to the taste sensation. It just adds extra strength to the fruity tones a depth that works perfectly with hibiscus and allows melon to shine.

Another thing to add to this almost perfect blend (know ones quite perfect are they hehe) is that it’s one you can enjoy hot or cold and trying this tea in warmer weather ice cold I’m sure will be just as intense , punchy and thirst quenching.

So if you love your fruity teas then Black Dog Tea Honeydew Melon is a must try !
