THE JOB ADVERT READ, “TRAINEE TEA TASTER WANTED – MUST BE PREPARED TO TRAVEL THE WORLD”. Founded by Giles (big spoon) and Mark (little spoon).

We applied, we got through (somehow!) and 1 million cups later here we are. As part of that training, we each spent a year living overseas in tea producing countries. We visited tea plantations, tea factories, warehouses and ports. We bought in tea auctions, we met the tea trade and made some great friends. We learnt that wherever you go in the world, people are incredibly passionate about this amazing product. At Two Spoons, we want to showcase great tea, the passion and the stories we have accumulated along the way.

Camomile

For this blend Two Spoons purely uses camomile.

Upon opening the tea box you are instantly hit with the sweet floral tones of the camomile.

Let’s Get Brewing!

The aroma whilst brewing isn’t too dissimilar to that of its dry state if anything the sweetness of the flowers has increased even more.

The brewed liquid is that of a bright yellow colouring.

Let’s Get Sipping!

First sip is just lovely.

This blend is light and refreshing. As it’s purely just the camomile flowers. It’s rich in its taste and is clean in doing so.

Camomile to me has a very distinctive flavour. It’s almost mellow yellow (if you know the song). This taste also stays the same throughout the sipping experience.

This blend is also very sweet in its taste, giving you a perfect sweet pick me up mixed with its calming properties it’s the perfect bedtime brewing. Especially as a caffeine free tea. It also has an almost honey like properties adding an extra depth to each sip.

With the colour of the blend being bright yellow, it’s definitely a mug of sunshine, bringing you a hug in a mug. Which is exactly what you need when taking a moment to relax and this is just what you can with blend.

Happy Sipping 🙂

Emerald Uji Matcha

For this blend The Zen Tea Co uses there Emerald matcha powder is sourced in Uji, Japan, where the microclimate is unique and promotes the growing of the highest quality plants.

Matcha is great for:

*Rich in anti-oxidants, which help keep you young and healthy
*Provides sustained energy, no more energy crash that drops too quickly
*Accelerates metabolism and helps your body burn calories up to 4 times quicker
*Naturally detoxifies the body and helps expel chemicals and maintain blood alkalinity
*Releases tension and stress and helps with focus and meditations (above direct from website)

Let’s Get Brewing!

Upon opening the tea pouch you are instantly hit with an intense green tea aroma.

For my matcha latte I mix some of the matcha powder with some hot water.
Then I steam some milk and combine the two.

The aroma whilst brewing isn’t too dissimilar to that of its dry state.

Let’s Get Sipping!

With matchas I always find it hard to describe it exactly. As it’s sort of like a very intense green tea. So a tiny bit grassy a little bit earthy. It’s just one of those flavours that if you know you know!

With this matcha, the flavour comes through intensely. It carries the perfect intensity that allows its flavour to work with milk to provide its distinctive flavour and mellowness and singing on its own.

The steamed milk isn’t exactly just for flavour but also the texture. Brining an almost creaminess to the sip as the matcha blends well. So its not grainy at all bringing a smoothness to each and every sip. The milk to me just counteracts the aftertaste of some matchas being on the bitter side but that’s not the case with Emerald Uji.

I’ve used some a tiny bit of vanilla to lightly sweeten it, but honey is a good option too, that’s if you so wish too.

The colour profile is just delightful and happy and the match mixed with the sweetened steamed milk is like a hug in a mug. As well as being a different way to drink it rather than as a shot or mug full. It’s just more soothing to me.

Happy Sipping 🙂

  • Dried Hawthorn: Improves digestion, reduces anxiety, and helps in lowering blood pressure.

Upon opening the tea pouch you are hit with an earthy undertone. None of the flavours are really identifiable at this stage.

Let’s Get Brewing!

The aroma whilst brewing is completely different to that of its dry state. It’s intense and not earthy the green tea is most noticeable within its aroma.

The brewed liquid is that of a mustard yellow colouring.

Let’s Get Sipping!

First sip and it doesn’t taste like I expected it to at all.

Now I say this based on the aroma of the blend.

The aroma was that of the green tea and taste wise it isn’t the dominant flavour. Mixed with the moringa they both do both bring a light grass like flavour. Yet it’s more aromatic than what you may expect.

I wouldn’t say that of the flavours individually taste wise more than another. It’s only really on the aftertaste that the green tea is apparent to me.

The oolong brings a smokey earthiness with a light nutty undertone.

There’s a slight tang to each sip that adds a new dimension to wach sip, through the use of the hawthorn.

The blend is also naturally sweet too for easy sipping.

Happy Sipping 🙂

Hibiscus and Cinnamon

For this blend Tea & Twigs uses: Hibiscus and Cinnamon.

Upon opening the tea tin, you are hit with the spicy sweet cinnamon followed by a fruity under tone.

Let’s Get Brewing!

The aroma whilst brewing is the opposite to its dry state where the fruity flavours are stronger than that of the cinnamon.

The brewed liquid is that of a deep pinky red.

Let’s Get Sipping!

First sip and I am hooked.

Hibiscus is the prominent taste within this blend. It brings a rich fruity floral flavour. Hibiscus is one of those distinctive flavours, which is fruity yet floral but also holds its own.

The cinnamon brings not just a flavour undertone but also a depth aspect. This is down to the warming properties it brings, an added comfort almost to each sip.

Together, the cinnamon and hibiscus work in harmony with each other, which adds to the “wellness” side of the blend.

Just the perfect sweetness.

There’s just something quite comforting and wholesome about sipping on a cinnamon spiced blend. It just appeals to the senses and your mods.

It’s also one of those blends that you know are just going to work perfect hot or cold. Or with a a spritzy twist as Mocktail.

Happy Sipping 🙂

Akan- Moringa Leaf Tea-

Time for Tea Please?

Thanks to Akan for sending me their herbal blends collection to share with you. A tea with added benefits is always a win by me!

Akan

(Direct from website)

Our journey with Moringa has been very interesting. Back in 2011 Richard’s sister, who is a nutritionist told us about this amazing ‘miracle’ tree called Moringa. This tree packed with nutrients and it’s multitude of health benefits simply sounded too good to be true! With so many health benefits how was it that we had never heard of it?

We realised that we can build a business combining and promoting Richards passion for Permaculture and bringing the awareness of this wonderful Superfood called Moringa to South Africa and the World.

We get to support the local South African farmers and communities that we work with while making a living and support our family, while educating people about the benefits of Moringa and changing lives as consumers benefit from optimum health at a fair price. It’s a win-win-win situation.

Moringa, Cape Buchu & Hibiscus Tea

For this blend Akan uses: Dried Moringa leaf, Buchu, Hibiscus & Spearmint.

Upon opening the tea envelope with a floral minty aroma.

Let’s Get Sipping!

The aroma whilst brewing isn’t too dissimilar to that of its dry state. However, the hibiscus is coming through as the biggest scent.

The brewed liquid is that of a redy brown colouring.

Let’s Get Brewing!

First sip, and I am very intrigued. I don’t really know what I was expecting the flavour to be, as I’ve never had a yea with moringa in before.

The first part of the sip is primarily that of the fruit floral side of the hibiscus. Which brings a much needed sweet note to each sip.

The almost aftertaste of the tea sip is that of the peppermint, which adds refreshing lift to each sip.

There’s a part of the sip where I can’t really tell what the flavour it self is but it’s kinda earthy and almost oily so process of elimination it’s a mixture of the the moringa and buchu. Which adds an extra taste sensation to the Sipping experience.

The flavour combination surprisingly work and for me would be the perfect afternoon evening blend.

Happy Sipping 🙂

ZO Tea – Radiance

Time for Tea Please?

Thanks to ZO Tea for sending me a sample of their blends. One thing sure is there packaging certainly catches your eye! Loving the colour combos.

ZO Tea

(Direct from website)

Our mission is to help you find a healthy balance, so make it your ritual and enjoy a better sense of wellbeing with our range of organic tea blends.

ZO is a UK-based, independent company that specialises in premium, organic loose leaf tea. Expertly blended to showcase the natural beauty and benefits of the ingredients. Our aim is to promote organic tea rituals, with carefully designed blends to help support and encourage wellness.

After many years suffering with digestive problems, I eventually found relief through a variety of different tea blends, added benefits included clearer skin, more energy and a greater sense of wellbeing.
I was inspired to research and develop my own brand of tea after reading negative reviews and articles about some of the ingredients I was drinking and the potentially harmful ingredient Senna. My goal became to offer blends that promote general wellbeing.

To fund out more or to try for yourself hitnthe link: https://zotea.co.uk/

Radiance

For this blend, ZO Tea uses Green Tea China Sencha , Raspberry, chia seeds, white tea, and Lemongrass

Upon opening the tea pouch you are instantly hit with the fruit sweetness of the the Berry flavours with a floral undertone. At the moment the green tea side of the blend is fairly undetected.

Let’s Get Brewing!

The aroma whilst brewing is fairly mild but its now the turn of the green tea tro take centre stage.

The brewed liquid is that of a yellowy green colour.

Let’s Get Sipping!

First sip and I am hooked it’s just light refreshing sip.

I’m always hit and miss when it comes to enjoying a green tea blend but this one is just perfectly balanced. The mix of the sencha green tea and the white tea are the perfect proportion for the blends to work in harmony with each other. Adding a floral goodness which is quite delicate. With a light raspberry tone coming through mixed with the tea flavours.

As the brew goes down the lemongrass within the blend is more of an after taste to each sip an extra refreshing kick.

I’m also getting an almost peppery sort of flavour which could be from the earthyness of the chia seeds but this just adds an extra flavour dimension to the blend.

There’s something quite nice drinking a tea that you know will help not just your body to cleanse but revitalise you skin too working on not just your insides but your outsides too and that’s enough sometimes.

Happy Sipping 🙂

The brewed liquid is that of a yellowy green colouring

Let’s get Sipping 🙂

First sip and I am hooked.

I love a tea blend that is aimed towards winding down getting ready for bed a moment of calm and this brew hitting those boxes.

The mint aspects of the blend is the main taste you get. This provided a much needed refreshing aspect. Mints down for its tummy tonic tendancys with its a lightness and flavour soothes you each sip.

I have a love-hate relationship with liquorice in tea blends. However, within this blend, balance is just right . You can taste it and feel in just the right amount if doesn’t over power each sip.

The floral ingredients are very subtle with each sip but add a light sweetness that lifts the blend to the next level and all work to bring that moment of added calm especially the chamomile.

I can certainly see this blend being part of bed time routine ensuring me a “goodnight”.

Happy Sipping 🙂

Teaspoon Tea Company

Hello, we’re Lance and Pamela and we own of teaspoon tea company based in the lovely county of Lincolnshire.

We started teaspoon in February 2014, serving and selling only loose leaf tea in the market town of Grantham. Our aim was to bring loose leaf tea to the forefront instead of coffee. We, of course, served the most amazing espresso coffee too but the tea took centre stage with big tea caddies holding the tea, tea timers and infuser teapots. Everybody loved it and we extended our range from 30 teas to 50!

Loose leaf tea is better for the environment than teabags and this is really important to us.

Drinking tea means different things to different people and thanks to Simplicitea there blends are to made “help your mind, body and soul”. Today I’m sharing with you their blend Dawn Fresh Burst.

Simplicitea Blends

(Direct from website)

I am a tea lover and I am very passionate about what goes into our bodies, so I started to create tea blends which were simple yet beautiful, they tasted fabulous and were visually stunning. Gifting these specially blended teas became my trademark and with such positive reactions I decided to share this secret with all tea lovers across the nation today which is the start of Simplicitea’s journey.

My tea blend journey started during the covid pandemic. Not being able to share a laugh, sit round the table for tea or give a warm hug to family and friends had an impact on my daily life. As I couldn’t be close to them I wanted to create something special to gift my loved ones to let them know I cared about their health and wellbeing. I started to research into tea blends which provided good health benefits as well as tasting great.

The green tea taste appears within the middle of each sip , adding an almost floral like taste to the blend. Which further more enhances the rosemary and its herbal elements.

It’s all about balance within this blend enticing to the soul but awakening the senses.

The aftertaste of this blend is that of the peppermint mixed with the lemon peel. This adds a much needed zing and freshness to each sip. Where the blend lives up to its name. The perfect tea to start your day or those afternoon slumps!

The lemon Balm and Rosemary come to the taste next, bringing a citrus herbal hit, which is a unique flavour and gives me Mediterranean vibes. I certainly wouldn’t mind drinking this on a Greek Island right now!
