Creamy Caramel Rooibos

As soon as you open the tea pouch you are instantly engulfed with the distinct Rooibos aroma . On further sniffing you are able to detect the sweet caramel notes.

For this blend Mystic Brew Tea uses Rooibos, Calendula petals, Natural flavors. Doesn’t it just look BeauTEAful?

For this brew I made my own teabag !

The aroma whilst brewing is really sweet and intense. The Rooibos aspect of the blend unlike in its dry state is at the back of the smell. It’s the sugary notes of the caramel side of the tea that sings whilst brewing.

Like any tea that contains Rooibos the brewed liquid is of a browny red in its colouring.

First sip and I am hooked. The caramel aspect of the tea is just lovely. It balances out the flavour of the Rooibos and together they just compliment each other. Sometimes you can find Rooibos within a blend over powering but with this one it’s not the case.

The caramel side to the tea blend brings such a natural sweetness to the tea which is frankly quite amazing. Which makes it the perfect afternoon pick me up minus the caffeine.

Even as the blend gets cooler the flavours combination doesn’t change.

Pink Panther

For this tea blend L’Atelier du Thé uses : Black Tea, Dried Strawberries and Natural Strawberry Flavour.

Upon opening the tea pouch you are instantly engulfed with the strawberry tones of the loose leaf tea. Is mouthed wateringly enticing and here’s to hoping it tastes as good as it smells!

The aroma whilst brewing doesn’t differ too much from its dry state which is a very good sign indeed.

With any black based tea even with an added flavouring your expecting to get a brown brewed liquid. This tea is no exception to this.

Let’s get sipping !

First sip is just tealicious.
The balance of flavour is just perfect. The black tea aspect of this blend is just right and it’s not over powering the strawberry. It is able to shine through along side the black tea base in perfect harmony. Which is an amazing find within a tea blend.

The use of the strawberry within the blend brings an add sweetness to the sipping experience. It’s just uplifts the tea and almost takes off what can be a bitter side to the tea sip with a black tea.

Any black tea with a flavouring I personally always drink black and recommend that you do too. I can’t help but feel that with this tea if you were to add some milk it would give off a strawberry milkshake vibe.

This is tea isn’t one to be rushed. It’s the kind of tea for a full on moment. It’s flavour is to be savoured. Light and refreshing but dark and sweet too. This tea is one of great things where you really do get from the blend what it says it’s going todo and that is a sip worth enjoying at a leisurely pace.

After Dinner Mint

For this Tea blend De Oliveria Tea House uses Organic Rooibos, Organic Spearmint and Organic Buchu Leaf.

Upon opening the tea pouch you are instantly engulfed with the minty notes of spearmint , with an almost sweet notes coming through from the buchu leaf. You aren’t able to overly smell the rooibos within the blend.

The blend itself is very intriguing to look at , the buchu leaf is almost spiked like but the redy brown of the Rooibos adds an added colour splash to it.

Whilst brewing the the aroma Of the tea changes to allow the spearmint to really sing. There other ingredients are no longer really noticeable within the smell.

I just love looking at the brewed leaves.

Like with most tea blends that have Rooibos within it the brewed tea liquid is that or brown with a redy tinge. However with the spearmint the brown has a more swampy green tinge to it.

First sip and hello mint !

I am a massive fan of the use of spearmint within a tea blend. It adds a less harsh minty tang but also a much added sweetness to the blend which you don’t get with other types of mint. The tea has other added sweetness through the use of buchu leaf.

There is a slight tang to the after taste of this tea blend and because I’ve never tried a tea that has buchu leaf in I am presuming this is what I’m able to taste.

The only slight down side to this tea is that taste wise the roobois is not overly apparent. It’s not something are you able to easily detect within each sip. More of an every few sips it pops up and says hello! Which isn’t a bad thing as it allows the spearmint to do its thing.

However as the name suggest it’s after dinner mint so mint and particularly the use of the spearmint is exactly what this tea blend brings to the cup !

Teabury – Rosy Lemon Earl Grey

Nothing beats a cup of tea and there’s nothing more than I love doing than sipping on a mug of tea especially in the afternoon. For some reason I always choose a tea that I can have without milk. So therefore any flavoured back tea is right up my street. Thanks to Teabury able to try their Rosy Lemon Earl Grey.

Teabury‘s motto is ‘Keep it simple’. Therefore chose to not use artificial flavours. “We love nature and all its beauty, colours, smells, tastes and goodness. We ask the question ‘Why flavour something artificially when there is so much natural beauty and goodness around?” To allow there natural ingredients to do the talking. To ensure there tea has intensity of flavour each tea is hand blended in small batches, with love and care. As to Teabury Happiness certainly is tea in a cup!

Rosy Lemon Earl Grey

For this blend Teabury uses Earl Grey Loose Leaf Black Tea, Lemon Balm, Lemon Grass, Lemon Verbena and Rose Petals. Not only does it look beauTEAful it also smells it to. The use of the lemon grass combined with the Rose just adds a shuttle fruity floral note which I hope will only intensify when brewed.

The aroma whilst brewing does exactly as I hoped and although the black tea is a prominent the use of the lemon grass really starts to sing with the floral notes of Rose peeping through too.
As expected with a black based tea the brewed tea liquid is that of a dark brown in colour.

First sip is just tealicious. For an earl grey tea it is fairly light in its intensity o being a black tea, this could have been down to my brewing time or the kind of black tea that Teabury use. As previously stated I choose to drink earl grey black and this too can effect flavour. However do not for one minute think that the intensity effects the pleasure in drinking this tea.

The reasoning for me saying this is because of the way the black tea has brewed it really allows the other flavours to sing and work alongside the earl grey for the perfect sip. Too often does the black side of the tea over power the more delicate flavours within the tea blend, yet with this tea it doesn’t. I absolutely love rose within tea blends and aided by the lemon grass its a match made in heaven. It’s certainly brightening up my afternoon.

Today I’m sipping on Breakfast in Asia from L’ATELIERduThé. I absolutely love the wooden tea caddy that it comes in. Its not like anything I’ve seen before so love the uniqueness it brings. Even more so when it says that it’s completely compostable too.

Breakfast in Asia
Upon opening the tea pouch you are instantly hit with an almost earthy aroma of a black tea.

Let’s get Brewing!

Whilst brewing the tea the aroma becomes slightly more mellowed. As expected with a black based tea the brewed liquid is of a dark brown in its colouring.

For first sip I decided to give the tea a go as a black tea based on the reasoning that the tea was designed to be a lighter breakfast tea. Upon sipping the tea the flavour is typically that of a black tea. However it’s got a slight tang that is slightly more earthy than I tend to expect with a traditional breakfast tea but then this is an Asian style one. To try an add a twist or even more enjoyable sip I decide to add a splash of milk.

Once adding the milk the sip for me has increasingly improved. By adding the milk to the brew to me it further allows the smoothness of it to finally come through. It’s almost enhanced the teas flavour and has allowed in my opinion the natural sweetness of the blend to come through. As well as making it a much more pleasurable experience.

Debonair Tea Co. – Dream On

Time for Tea Please?
I love unwinding at the end of the day with a mug tea. As long as its caffeine free I’m opening to trying anything that either help me destress or get me ready for bed. Today I’m trying Dream On by the Debonair Tea Co.

Upon opening the tea pouch you are hit with the unmistakeable aroma of lavender mixed with Rooibos tea.

For this blend Debonair Tea Co. uses Honeybush, rooibos, chamomile, lemon balm, rose petals, lavender and blue cornflowers. The ingredients for this tea was picked specifically for the qualities that they can provide to the drinker to provide a relaxing sipping experience.

Honeybush for its soothing qualities.
Camomile for insomnia, stress , anxiety & stomach.
Lavender to reduce stress and anxiety.
Lemon Balm of which reduces stress and aid sleep. For best results, it is advised lemon balm should be combined with other herbs, as found in this blend.
Rose Petals brewed as tea it can have a mild hypnotic effect and can help to induce sleep in a way comparable to medications such as Valium.

Let’s get brewing!

Whilst brewing the aroma isn’t too dissimilar to its dry state. The only slight difference being that the flora smells isn’t as pungent, allowing the aroma of the rooibos come through stronger.
With this blend I wasn’t too sure on what the brewed liquid would be like. So was quite surprised with its brown colouring although with the Rooibos tea within the blend it should have been expected.

First sip and I am hooked! There’s just something about the flavour combination that is intriguing. It doesn’t overly taste like it smells. Some how the combination of all the flavours just work well all blended as one. There isn’t one aspect of the ingredients that scream louder than the others instead they blended together in harmony. The first half off the sip is more designated to the Rooibos and Honeybush with the after taste taking on the floral aspects. Particularly the lavender with an after thought of lemon balm with its minty flavour. Which made for a refreshing crisp sip. I was also pleasantly surprised by the natural sweetness. The only real flavour that I couldn’t detect within the tea was the camomile.

Lewisham Tea Company – Bora Bora

Thanks to Lewisham Tea Company I’m able to bring you today’s tea review featuring their Bora Bora tea. Lewisham Tea Company has a fantastic ethos of a tea for every mood. Focusing on sipping the “stuff that tastes good and makes us feel even better”. Sipping on a mug of tea for me is part of looking after my wellbeing , taking a moment to myself to enjoy the sipping pleasures and moment of calm a cuppa can bring. Especially if I need a bit of a boost.

With having 6 teas in their range it means their focus is purely on the tea and allowing the tea to really do the talking.

Bora Bora

For this tea blend Lewisham Tea Company uses Hibiscus blossoms, apple pieces, papaya cubes, currants, elderberries, blackcurrant, sunflower blossoms, cornflower blossoms, freeze dried raspberry and strawberry pieces. Now all of these sound tealicious !

Upon opening the tea pouch you are instantly hit with a fruitea punch ! I can instantly make our the papaya cubes which added a super sweetness to the aroma.

Combined with all the other aspects of the ingredients it smells like opening a bag of sweeties with an underlining floral tone. It’s certainly getting my mouth watering !!!!

Let’s get brewing!

While brewing the aroma changes quite significantly from its dry state. It’s not quite so sweet in its smell and I can almost smell notes of cocoa which is strange considering there isn’t any within the blend itself. It might just be the magic of the ingredients infusing together.

The brewed liquid is of a deep pinky red almost red wine like in its colouring.

With a brew time of 12 minutes I’m hoping like the amazing rich colour of the tea it’s flavour matches it.

First sip is simply BeauTEAful!

It certainly has the intense rich flavour I was very much hoping for. It’s sipping sensation is the perfect balance of fruit and floral in equal measures. Neither over powers the other but works in a perfect harmony to provide a taste sensation.
Just like the balance of the fruit and floral aspects of the tea each individual ingredient doesn’t shout any louder than the other. To me the fruity flavours of the tea come with the initial sip and then right at the end almost at the swallow (I guess that’s how you’d describe it) the floral flavours come through. A sip that keeps on giving!

This is the perfect tea for a mug of me time. It’s almost magic in a cup! Just like the name Bora Bora

I also feel this is one of those fruitea teas which would be perfectly brewed ice cold or even served with lemonade for a summer spritzer.

For this tea blend Joes Tea Co uses : hibiscus, apple, spearmint, raspberries, strawberries, blueberries, natural strawberry flavour and natural raspberry flavour.

Upon opening the tea pouch you are instantly engulfed with the fruity tones of the tea. It smells berrylicious and it certainly gets your mouth watering. The blueberryness is the most prominent smell of them all. An added touch that I love is upon opening the packaging it says

that’s just perfect and I think I will !

So let’s get brewing!

Whilst brewing the aroma of the tea doesn’t overly change, apart from it is now possible to smell the spearmint which in its dry state it wasn’t obviously noticeable.

The brewed liquid is a deep redy pink, very similar to that of the colouring used within the packaging which is either really clever or pure coincidence!

First sip is fruitylicious ! It’s strong and powerful in its flavour and it’s knows how to get your attention. Which is just what I’m after from a fruit tea. It’s not exactly possible to pin point an a exact fruity flavour other than naming it “berry” I always find the use of hibiscus in teas as adding a richness too it’s flavour quality.

It’s not until an almost after sip that the spearmint really sings. It’s quite a weird sensation Ito be honest with you. It’s like it almost keeps quiet while you enjoy the fruity notes and then wham here I am ! For a fool refreshing almost after thought. Like don’t leave me behind I’m here too you know ! Hehe however it just added to the overall sipping experience which for one I am enjoying.

I can also tell that this is the kind of tea that will be perfect served hot and cold, perfect for cooling down on a hot day or warming up on a cold one! It’s also a caffeine free blend so can be enjoyed at any time of the day.

State of Mind – Sense of Humour

Today I’m going to be sipping on a blend called Sense of Humour by a French based tea company called State of Mind .

State of Mind philosophy is the “Blending the timeless ritual of the tea ceremony with the art of perfumery”. A very unique way of looking at tea. Like choosing a perfume , choosing a tea it is able to generate feelings emotions which can affect your thoughts.

I’m sure like me you’ve all had sipping pleasures which take you back to a time or place. I know I have / do.

Sense of Humour

For this blend State of Mind uses Mate, Darjeeling, Lemon, Mandarin, Peach and Coriander.

Upon opening the tea envelope you are instantly hit with the aroma of Darjeeling tea with underlying notes of citrus and coriander. I am a little bit sceptical of using coriander in tea but hey I’ll give it a go.

Let’s get brewing !!

Whilst brewing the aroma doesn’t overly change. If anything it’s slightly less intense in its liquid form than in its dry state.

As to be expected with a tea that contains Darjeeling in will be of a brown in colour.

First sip is interesting. The combination of the Darjeeling and Mate just works. Together they provide an almost peppery musky taste.
The use of the different fruit flavours within the tea lemon, mandarin and peach. It provides an almost citrus kick to the after taste. Due to this the use of the coriander it allows the fruity flavours to intensify.

I’ve never tried Mate before which is a traditional tea from Argentina and Paraguay when combined with Darjeeling produces a traditional energy drink with vitamins B and C. Combined with the fruity notes of the blend makes it a pleasurable drinking experience.

The London Tea Company – Earl Grey

Time for Tea Please?

There’s nothing better than having a brew ! Especially when is first thing on a Tuesday morning at work. Come on all we know that we need a good ol mug of tea or twenty to get us through the day !!!!! Today I’m sipping on The London Tea Company and their Earl Grey.

For this blend The London Tea Company uses 98% Ceylon Black Tea with flavourings.

As soon as you open the tea pouch you are instantly hit with the aroma of bergamot followed by that of the black tea.
Let’s get brewing !

The aroma while brewing doesn’t overly change from its dried state it just allows the intensity to increase.
As expected with a black based tea the brewed liquid is of a dark black colouring. Now I just love the aroma of an earl grey tea, so let’s get sipping!

I always find earl grey teas quite hard to describe. All I know is that I haven’t found one yet that I dislike! So here’s hoping this one lives up to my expectation.
First sip oh hello!
I like my earl greys well any tea to be fair to pack a punch and this one certainly does. The intensity of the black tea mixed with the flavourings add an extra strength that can sometimes be missing. One aspect that sings within this blend is that of the bergamot and flavour it brings to the tea with its citrus tones adds the much needed flavour sensation that everyone recognises as earl grey.

The only slight flaw in this tea for me is the fact the flavour isn’t fully as intense at the last sip. Wether this down to the way the flavourings is used within the blend I don’t know it just seems to have slightly lost its bergamot taste.

All in all this an Earl Grey worth drinking !
