Mystic Brews Tea – Countess Earl Grey

Time for Tea Please?

Nothing beats coming home from a hard day at work to sipping on a brew. A moment of calm to have for yourself and unwind. Today I’m doing just that thanks to Mystic Brew Teas and their Countess Earl Grey.

Mystic Brew Teas is a tea company

Countess Earl Grey

For the blend Mystic Brew Teas uses Black Tea, Orange Pieces, Cornflower and Rose Petals, Lime Leaves and Natural Flavouring.

As soon as you open the tea pouch you are engulfed with enticing flavours. The use of the Lemon and Lime pieces are majorly at the forefront followed by the floral tones of the rose and cornflower petals. You can’t overly smell the black tea at this point.

Let’s get brewing!

The aroma whilst brewing is light in its smell but florally with a side of lemon. It’s not so punchy compared to its dry state but hopefully it won’t disappoint on the taste side.

Like any black based tea the brewed liquid is of a brown colouring.

Let’s get sipping !

First sip is very intriguing. It’s not like any earl grey teas that I have tried before.

I am very surprised that the floral flavours within the blend are the main tastes. It adds an almost perfumey side to the tea that I didn’t expect. It has an added zing and sharpness from the use of the lime and orange pieces which increases the pleasure of the sipping experience.

However like it’s aroma the black tea bit is almost an after thought and flavour within the blend. This isn’t a bad thing at all it’s just unusual to have all the other ingredients within the blend be more prominent than black tea.

This tea is the perfect afternoon tea blend, it’s light and delicate and maybe I should be drinking it from a dainty tea cup rather than a mug.

The floral and fruity notes would work perfect with an afternoon / cream tea as it would cleanse the palette perfectly.

Happy Sipping 🙂
