Café W

Time for Tea Please?

It was a bit of a miserable day in Norwich today and what better way to cheer myself up than tea and cake!!!! So today I went to Café W, in Waterstones, on Castle Meadow, in Norwich City Centre. I know what you are thinking but who’d have thought a cafe in a bookstore, but I can tell you now it won’t disappoint 🙂

As a Tea lover there was never doubting my choice of drink, yet choosing a tea was harder than I thought it would be with around 15 different ones to choose. I loved there sample tray of loose leaf tea which meant as a customer you could see and smell the tea before choosing.

After being able to smell the teas which is a fantastic way to get a feel and therefore taste of the tea I chose to go for the Goji Berry and Pomegranate, oh and piece of red velvet cake.

The Tea

IMG_3883
I love a pot of tea as it means I can brew the tea just the way I like it, particularly with the use of the special loose leaf teabags for Giants !

IMG_3881 Allowing the tea to brew for at least 3 minutes I couldn’t wait to try this flavour combination. On pouring the tea it’s very fruity and refreshing the aroma is sweet yet just right and enticing the tastebuds. It’s fruitness was just perfect for a miserable day and a perfect boost to banish the rainy day blues. This tea is a grower as its gets stronger in flavour as the tea brews, I chose to leave the loose leaf in for the whole drinking experience. This allowed the flavour to deepen as well as the colour of the brew.

The Cake
So after my initial shock of finding such a great café in a bookstore there choice of cakes and sweet treats were amazing suit all tastes and dietary requirements.

After spending quite a while choosing the tea, it took me just as long to decide on my sweet treat!

Apart from its amazing colour I just couldn’t resist the Red Velvet Cake , which was also Vegan. The cake was just scrummy, not too sweet and not overly crumbly for vegan recipe and was a perfect match for my tea.

So if you are looking for somewhere different, with plenty of choice for everyone then Café W is the perfect choice for you 🙂

Today I am introducing you to their Mademoiselle Grey

I loved the smell of this tea as soon as opening the pouch to get the loose leaf teabag out ! Safe to say I’m excited . Therefore I loved the smell of the tea even more while It infused. From classic early grey with Jadu’s Sri Lankan Uva black tea to the sweetness and floral tones of the red cornflowers. Made a perfect smelling blend. As I drink this type of tea black (without milk) I allowed the tea to brew for around 3 minutes before removing the teabag. Plus who really wants the teabag touching their nose while enjoying their tea!

The firsts sip was amazing ! Instantly I was hit with the underlying citrusy tones, coming from Orange, lemon and Lemongrass. Blended with the sweetness and floral tones of the red cornflowers. Makes it absolutely to die for. The flavour combinations work perfectly alongside each other , not over powering one and other but a match made in heaven ! As previously stated and from the photos I don’t add milk to this tea, however tea is unique just like this blend is , so if you choose to add milk then go for it.

I absolutely loved this tea, it was a pleasure to drink and each sip left you wanting more.
