Thanks to Lewisham Tea Company I’m able to bring you today’s tea review featuring their Chocolate Spice Tea.

Sipping on a mug of incredible tasting tea that does what it says on the tin for me is part of looking after my wellbeing , taking a moment to myself to enjoy the sipping pleasures and moment of calm a cuppa can bring. Especially if I need a bit of a boost. Which as part of lockdown I certainly need now more than ever and maybe you do too!

Chocolate Spice

For this Tea Lewisham Tea Company blends: Assam tea, cocoa, barley malt, roasted chicory root, ginger, cardamom, black pepper.

This tea has been blended with our wellbeing in mind. The use of Cocoa has been shown to increase serotonin and dopamine levels. As well as being packed with other antioxidants to help boost immune system and increase focus. A tea with added extras is always a bonus to me.

Upon opening the tea pouch you are instantly engulfed with all the aromas blended together. Ultimately you can smell the spiced aspects blended with cocoa and not so much of the assam tea.

Let’s get brewing !

Whilst brewing the aroma of the tea in its dry state completely changes and transforms into its name sake chocolate spice. The aroma of the chocolate is now at the forefront of what you are able to smell. The spice is still lingering however it’s the chocolates turn to sing. The assam tea is still taking a slight back seat but judging by the teas name chocolate spice that’s exactly what’s a brewing. So I’m excited to see what it tastes like.

The brewed liquid as expected is a dark brown in its colouring due to the Assam tea within the blend.

Let’s get sipping!

First sip is just tealicious. It’s very rare to find a tea that does exactly what it says it’s going too. It’s really strong in its flavouring which of course I love.
As I do love a strong brew. The tea is a pleasure to sip on it, it incorporates every single aspect of what ingredients it has within the blend. From the cocoa bringing the initial flavour to the sip followed by spicy tones and malty notes from the Assam tea bringing an earthy spicy hit which brings a warming aspect to the sipping experience.

The overall sip is heartfelt and warming and a hug in a mug. Which sometimes you just need from a good brew after a difficult day.

Chocolate Spice Latte

Due to the spiced aspects of the tea I thought I’d mix it up and try it as a latte.
Todo this first steep a chocolate spice tea bag in a few cms of hot water.

Then steam some hot milk

Pour to the brim on the mug leave the tea bag in (it intensifies the flavour)
Sprinkle some chocolate on top and drink!

Personally I prefer the tea on its own black it allows the real flavours to completely sing however it’s a nice alternative and a great way to make the tea versatile for your needs.

Afternoon Tea – The Assembly House

For my friends 30th Birthday we treated her to a surprise afternoon tea at The Assembly House, in Norwich! Like most of you tea lover we do love a spot of afternoon tea.

Even so when the sweet treats were themed to the seasons.

Other than the sweet treats, sandwiches , scones and hot appetisers choosing the perfect tea to coincide was essential. After consulting the tea menu….

I settled on Lavender Black.

Let’s get brewing !
Upon receiving the teapot you can self brew, the tea is loose within the tea pot and then you have your tea strainer to catch the loose leaf as you pour.

Taking the lid of the tea pot to smell the aroma you can instantly tell why it’s got it’s name as the lavender is very much doing the talking over the black tea.

As you can see like with any black based tea the brewed liquid is that of a dark brown colour.

First sip is just tealicious. The use of the Lavender is just perfect! The floral side to the brew just adds an added depth and intrigue to a normal black tea. I’ve had lavender in more herbal style teas but it’s almost like it pushes the taste boundaries working alongside each other. There’s just something about it that just works.

Drinking this tea black, to me makes it work perfectly with all the different flavour combination that the afternoon tea has. The lavender works like a pallet cleanser allow not just a refreshing sip but also allowing the food to be enjoyed without the tea being over powering.

It makes the sipping experience even more teatastic because the lavender is also grown and dried in Norfolk where I am so it’s just that little bit more special.

Joes Tea Co – The Earl of Grey

An afternoon tea sipping session is one of my major loves. Today I’m sipping on Joes Tea Co and their The Earl of Grey. If I could only drink one blend of tea for the east if my life earl grey would be the one so here’s hoping its a good one !

Joes Tea Co was founded in 2012 where he sought after organic blends and has since won 25 great taste awards. Joe is after the best and when he means best it's referring to exceptionally sourced ethical , organic tea plantations.

The Earl of Grey

For this septic blend of Earl Grey , Joes Tea Co uses Ceylon Black Tea and Bergamot Oil. It’s obvious from opening the tea ouch and by its aroma that there is plenty of bergamot within this blend yey!

Let’s get Brewing !

Whilst brewing the aroma of the blend doesn’t overly change the brewed ceylon becomes deeper and the aromatics of the bergamot sing further.

As expected with a black based tea the brewed liquid is of a dark brown colour.

Let’s get sipping !

First sip is just tealicious. I always chose to drink earl grey teas black as I feel milk just takes something away from the blend. This can occasionally lead to a slight bitterness from the brew but that is not the case with this blend. The balance of the ceylon tea with the bergamot is just spot on. They are blended perfectly for them to be sipped in unison as a match made in heaven. The citrus of the bergamot is sharp and punch but with the Ceylon is mellowed to perfection. I could happy sit and sip this all afternoon long.

Nisi – Camomile and Lavender

Nisi is a tea company based in Greece. They are a natural tea and herbs specialists. Focusing on the beneficial properties of Greek nature without any chemicals. Using the purity and potency of herbal healing. Nisi believes that sipping tea can be more than just a pleasure to sip on but also have many health benefits.

Today I’m sipping on two of their ingredients to make my own blend. Their Camomile and Lavender.

Their Camomile tea is grown in Greece and tends to have a more sweet and earthy taste to it compared to camomile grown in other countries. As its produced locally it allows Nisi to know that due to the nutrient rich grounds it’s grown in allows extra strength within the ingredients.
As I like to drink my camomile primarily in the evening Nisi suggested to add some lavender to the blend, which I’m going to give a try. Like the camomile its locally sourced/grown in highly, nutritious soil for the best yield.

In my infuser I firstly filled it with camomile, of which smelt super powerful in its flavour and I’m very much hoping it tastes that way too. I then popped it in the mug and filled it with water. I then added in two sprigs of lavender and left it for a few minutes to infuse.

While brewing the aroma intensified with the richness of the camomile and the lavender it was mixing together perfectly and was certainly getting the taste buds going.

After brewing I removed the lavender and the infuser and was left with a light yellow brewed liquid.

First sip and wowzer what a punch !

The camomile taste just shines through. Due to the naturalness of the dried camomile its flavour is very strong. It may even be the the strongest tasting camomile I’m yet to try. The flavour is so pure and rich it really is a taste sensation.

With the use of the two sprigs of lavender it provides a perfect side balance. It’s just enough to allow the lavender to add a delicate flavour to the sip so that it doesn’t over power the camomile. It works in harmony with up the camomile adding a further floral undertone.

Combined together the camomile and lavender just works. The richness and strength of the blend is just amazing and will knock your socks off. Yet it also has a pure smoothness which adds further pleasure to the sipping experiences which just exquisite. Wether this down to the pureness of the ingredients or some magical Greek goodness!

Today I’m going to be trying there Roselle and Red Date.

The health benefits known for drinking this tea are:

Roselle: has diuretic property and detoxify the body, facilitate weight loss, smooth wrinkles and liver health.

Red Date: Nourish blood, improve digestive health and rehydrate skin.

As you can probably already guess the Ingredients for this Tea blend was a Roselle (Taiwan) and Red Date (South Korea).

Upon opening the tea pouch, the overall aroma is very light in its nature. It has a light floral tone with under notes of date.

With a recommendation of 8 minutes brewing get that kettle on.

The aroma whilst brewing has certainly intensified it smells berylicious it has a very Berry smell alongside that of the date.

The brewed aroma is a rich redy pink .

First sip is very intriguing. It packs a real punch with its flavour and intensity. The main flavour at the forefront is that of the date followed by that of a fruity and almost floral tones of the Roselle. Or as some you may be wondering Roselle is actually another name for hibiscus which explains the berry nature and colour to this tea. I sometimes forget that in other languages/translations it may be called a word that you don’t tend to use and your left wandering what it might be.

I’m not sure how I feel about the use of the date within the blend as it’s not something I’d normally chose to eat etc. However it some how just works amongst the flavours.

One thing I do know for sure is how amazing the colour of the brew is and it certainly helps when drinking this tea to keep in sipping! With the added known health benefits from the tea as well it’s a perfect added extra to the sipping experience.

With the flavour intensity of this tea and the colour it would also make the perfect iced blend. Machine drinking an ice cold bright pink tea on a hot summers day !

T2 Birmingham

Time for Tea Please?

On a quick visit to Birmingham I made sure I had enough time to pop in to T2 other than there pop up shop in the London Selfridges this was my first ever visit to a fully fledged store.

What I loved about the store on first entering was the use of contrasting colours between the black fixtures and the co,our full packaging of their tea. Especially when combined with beauTEAful tea wear.

Tea Tasting – Choc Pear Pudding

Firstly I love the packaging design, it’s very different from their normal packaging but is still eye catching in an almost elegant way.
Time to get sipping! As expected with a black based tea the brewed liquid is brown in its colouring. The aroma to me is fairly light but you can certainly smell the cocoa.
On first sip it’s very intriguing, it’s light in flavour yet rich too. The contrast of the cocoa and black tea is full and rich, yet it is softened with the pear tones. The combination of flavours works perfect. Maybe a little subtle for taste but still tealicious.

Tea Tasting – Boho Rose
I love a floral tea! I don’t know why but I just do. So I was very interested to try this tea. Especially as it was blended with sparkling water. It’s not ever crossed my mind to blend tea with sparkling water to make a fizzy iced tea of sorts.

Not only did the name intrigue me but also the colour bright pink! Especially as the tea is inspired by Turkish delight.

Mmmmm first sip was delicious. Perfectly rich and floral with an underlying natural sweetness. Particularly as an iced brew, it makes such a refreshing sipping experience. The mix of the tea and sparkling water is just beauTEAful , if only I’d found this tea for summer brewing it would have been perfectly refreshing on a hot day.

My first T2 visit didn’t disappoint !
